With the artisan and specialty food market booming, Patrick Lewis’ business was ahead of the trend curve when he started his business four years ago. Lewis is the founder of Purely Patrick, a company that makes small batches of food and drink mixes with “a splash of country flair and a taste of Vermont.”
Lewis is blind, nonverbal and has cerebral palsy. He uses a “pouring switch” to make his products — soups, cookies and other treats in layered jars.
His job coaches who, along with his family members, help him pick out and buy the ingredients he needs. “With creativity and optimism, we have been able to build a successful working life for Patrick in spite of his multiple disabilities,” Lewis’ mom, Mary Ann, told The Mighty.
